I’m Thorn

A queer witch born on the cusp of the first and last zodiac signs, if you are interested in astrology you will understand why I share that. I feel much of my human experience has been a dance between worlds, duality is a thread that weaves through all facets of my life, I am never fully here nor there but rather living in between it all. For years this was challenging for me but as I have aged I've learned skills to help me navigate it in gentler ways that help me verses hinder me. Eventually I began embracing my gifts, harnessing my abilities and learning to share the magick found in these spaces with others.

Relationship with nature

At 16 months old my parents found me in a patch of raspberry bushes snacking amongst the buzzing bees. I am still that child, constantly awe struck by the natural world, grateful to my connection within it and passionate about sharing the magick found there with others through my work. I am most at home amongst tall trees, cawing crows and wild rose, my soul is calmer, my senses are engaged and my creativity is the most inspired there. If I could be outside every day for the rest of my life just existing amongst nature, I would. I have always had a love of photographing nature, especially gardens, forests and coastlines across the Pacific Northwest.

Photo Witch

The same summer I was found in the raspberry patch was the same summer I picked up a camera and put it to my eye, never being shown how. It seems like something called to me in that moment because from as early as I can remember I have been taking photos of the world around me. My primary photography subject matter has always been nature and abandoned spaces. Over the years I have photographed portraits for musicians, professionals, artists, families, couples, individuals and pets. Though now decades later I am specifically combining my passion of photography with my connection to magick. These two have been with me my entire life & this niche really speaks to my soul.

inspiration

I have been using photography as an art medium to reconnect with my soul, conjure magick and reclaim my inner power. The images I create embody the dark, the light and the in between spaces. I utilize images to personally express emotions while simultaneously evoking those emotions for the viewer, often bringing them a sense of solidarity. Over the years I have found a tremendous amount of self love, healing and magick within this experience. My own personal journey inspired me to create these sacred spaces for others to be held in which is why I am now focusing my photography experiences within the realm of helping others conjure their own magick while connecting to the natural world around them.
